See ongoing Empower Timeline for deadlines here.
Article Guidelines, Rules, and Restrictions                     Suggested Article Topics
We will be unable to accept articles that promote one side of
a political issue - please see Guidelines, Rules, and
Restrictions for more details.
If you are unsure about your
topic choice, please
submit a brief proposal for approval
before submitting an entire article. The following are
considered appropriate themes and topics for Empower.

  1. Articles must be submitted by the posted deadline
to be considered for printing in the next upcoming
issue of Empower. See submissions page for next
    deadline.
  2. Articles should aim to be between 400-500 words
(blurbs will be shorter). We may consider longer
articles depending on topic and available space -
please submit a proposal for long articles before
    submitting a long article itself.
  3. Those submitting editorial articles must be willing to
allow reader responses to be published in following
issues if deemed appropriate by Empower editors.
  4. Writers should maintain a list of the sources used
for their articles; Empower aims for high levels of
    professionalism and accuracy in writing.
  5. ME³ and Empower reserve the right to refrain from
    publishing any article.
  6. We are unable to accept articles that promote one
side of a political issue. Empower aims to cover
social and community issues that affect community
members. However, Empower is the project and
product of ME³, a nonprofit charitable organization,
and is obligated to remain neutral regarding political
issues. We may, however, consider accepting
articles on the following topics and may print such
articles if deemed appropriate after review:
--Articles that may contain reports on advocacy as it
pertains to the work of a charitable organization
.
--Articles that cover evenly both sides of an advocacy
discussion as long as it is related to the work of a
charitable organization.
